Our Specialized Services Include

Take care of your bottom and your bottom will take care of you. Our technicians are certified applicators for Petit, Interlux, and Seahawk brands. Nobody likes a dirty bottom. Keep it fresh and clean with Chicago Yacht Works’ bottom paint service!

From a simple boat wash to a complete buff and wax, we offer a full range of boat detailing services to keep your investment in tip-top condition. Our detailing team takes great care to use the appropriate products and methods specific to your boat to ensure a perfect finish.

Our technicians are experienced in troubleshooting, repairing and installing marine electrical components and systems. From a bilge pump replacement, to a new chartplotter system and everything in between, we are equipped to handle it.

Chicago Yacht Works’ technicians are Mercury Marine and Volvo Penta certified. Numerous years of experience includes annual training to ensure up-to-date product knowledge. They possess OEM tools for diagnosing and have all the service manuals and parts catalogs as well as factory/dealer direct technical support only certified technicians have access to.

From structural repairs to simple gel coat and paint touch ups, we have the tools and talent to get your boat back in prime condition. With two buildings capable of housing both long and short-term projects, we welcome the chance to earn your business.

Chicago Yacht Works is an authorized Mercury Marine and Volvo Penta dealer, as well as a service center. Our parts associates have access to both manufacturers OEM parts catalogs and can place orders for customers when part number(s) or engine serial information is provided.

Your Sailboat rigging should not be overlooked when performing your annual maintenance. We can perform a mast and rigging inspection to identify any areas of concern and help with upgrades to make your sailing easier and more fun.

Refitting or restoring a boat requires enormous commitment and demands talent. The right tools, structure, management and a financial strategy are also of the upmost importance to ensure your project leaves you in a state bliss. Refits and restorations are created in dreams, and we can help make your dreams come true.

 

If you store your vessel in the Chicago cold, it is imperative to winterize any engine, generator or really any system on board with water, before your boat goes into storage. They must be protected from bursting.

The antifreeze we use has rust inhibitors built in. Many of our inside heated storage customers choose to winterize their engine systems, as many engine manufacturers like Volvo and Mercury recommend winterizing to protect from rust. It’s all about protecting the internal engine surfaces.

Numerous non-storage customers come to Chicago Yacht Works to be inspected only to find that their engine blocks were cracked. When asked whether they winterized their systems, the answer was either, “no” or “I think so.”
